Hirosaki Park is one of Japan's best cherry blossom spots, with its abundance of over 2500 trees, cherry blossom tunnels, petal filled moats, numerous pleasant picnic areas, rental rowing boats, many varieties of cherry trees and illuminations in the evenings, it feels like multiple great cherry blossom spots combined into a single one. A festival is held annually from April 23 to May 5, when the blossoms are usually in full bloom.
The beautiful Hirosaki Castle is located in the park, was built in 1611 by the Tsugaru Clan with a three-story castle tower, fortified moats and castle gates.
Hirosaki Castle is a hirayama-style Japanese castle. It was the seat of the Tsugaru clan, a 47,000 koku tozama daimyō clan who ruled over Hirosaki Domain, Mutsu Province, in what is now central Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. It was also referred to as Takaoka Castle and it's the most famous cherry blossom spot in Tohoku!
It was a wonderful and spectacular walk through the Seibi-en Garden - built in a rare mix of Japanese and western styles.
They saved the best for the finale - it was just spectacular!!! This was a trip of a lifetime and as you can see in the beautiful pictures!
