Tahiti serves as the gateway for cruisers traveling to the Society Islands and other South Pacific destinations. Because passengers land at Faa'a International Airport, Tahiti is the jumping-off point for embarkations.  Tahiti is also the urban hub of the region, with the port of Papeete at its very center. It feels a lot more French -- and a bit more cosmopolitan -- than the other islands, with sidewalk cafes along the main boulevard and a colorful, busy municipal market. 

Tahiti, with black-sand beaches, lagoons, waterfalls and 2 extinct volcanoes, it's a popular vacation destination. The Islands of Tahiti are a mythical destination and there is beauty wherever you look!  We did a sample of the Papeete Market which is an extensive market place in Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. This large and bustling market hall offers local farm products, handicrafts, souvenirs and a variety of fish and food products with flowers everywhere . Paul Gauguin Cruises operates the highest-rated and longest continually-sailing cruise ship in the South Pacific.  This is the day we go aboard and find out all the lovely places on board!  Our first stop - life in the small villages, with their bougainvillea lined roads, bright coral churches, quaint homes, boulangerie snacks and restaurants seems to hover above the clear waters in Fakarava.  Fatu Hiva is a marvellous ‘stop the world and get off’ place. so

Fatu-Hiva is the southernmost island of the Marquesas Islands, in French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. 

When we were planning our South Pacific trip, I had an image in my mind of what my dream island would look like. It would have beautiful scenery that encompassed beaches, jungles, ruins, lagoons, and volcanoes, along with friendly locals, great food, the ability to visit on a budget, and plenty of options for activities. Well, I’m pleased to say that we found an island just like that. It’s called Huahine and it’s perfect.

 Tahuata, Nuka Hiva, Marquesas Islands  There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around and learn all there is to know about this wonderful day's tour. Huahine is divided into two parts – Huahine Nui and Huahine Iti – separated by a narrow channel. Lots of secluded white sand beaches all around …. surrounded by wild green vegetation.   Even the public beach of Fare is really worth a visit.  Traveling to Bora Bora which is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia a popular honeymoon destination.  With lots of shopping!  That's where I bought my beautiful black pearl bracelet!  Tara'a has a simple island living along the shores by car or bicycle, or discover some of the family-owned pearl and Tahitian vanilla farms. Very enjoyable and educational!  A very informative visit to the pineapple plantation in Moorea!  Toured a distillery and juice factory to see how the pineapples are chopped and ground into all this alcoholic variety.    Lots of shopping!  Maximize your sightseeing with this exceptional tour.

We began our tour with first stop at the Papeete Market is an extensive market place in Papeete, the capital of Tahiti. This large and bustling market hall offers local farm products, handicrafts, souvenirs and a variety of fish and food products.

At the end of our cruise, we took a tour of Papeete to learn their history.

 Paul Gauguin Cruises operates the highest-rated and longest continually-sailing cruise ship in the South Pacific.  James Norman Hall, from 1920 to 1951, this was the home of one of Tahiti's famous resident authors, James Norman Hall, the co-author of Mutiny on the Bounty, Pitcairn's Island and other tales of adventure in the South Pacific.  Was a very informative and interesting stop!  During our excursion we stopped at Point Venus. There were historical landmarks in this park and a black sand beach as well. Also a very cool lighthouse and monuments to Captain Cook and Blye. We enjoyed our visit and would defiantly recommend this attraction.
