Explore Northeastern TX

Discover Northeastern Texas

This was a long, two-hour road trip back to Pickton, Texas where I stayed with family.  They own a big spread with a remodeled home from the 1800's - beautifully redone in the 1800's decorations. There was also a barn filled with animals and many other things.

You could enjoy being with us on a ranch with; many arabian horses, cows, a couple of donkeys, chickens, ducks and cats and dogs.

What a different way of life that I'm accustomed to!  Travel with us as we tour Northeastern Texas like you've never done before!

The back roads give you a look at real life in urban Texas that you've never taken in before!  So getty-up - let's go...

Discover Pickton, Texas Adventures!

Pickton is an unincorporated community in Hopkins County, Texas, United States. Although it is unincorporated, Pickton does have a post office.

At the junction of State Highway 11 and Farm Road 269, it's fifteen miles southeast of Sulphur Springs in southeastern Hopkins County, was first settled around 1856 by M. D. Jackson.

A small settlement grew up in the area in the late 1870s, and in 1879, when the East Line and Red River Railroad was built, the community became a station.

The tracks go along the one side of the ranch and you can hear the train whistle sometimes at 3:00 in the morning!

Discover Sulphur Springs' Dairy History

The Southwest Dairy Museum, located in Sulphur Springs, Texas, showcases the importance of the dairy industry's past, present and future.

The Southwest Dairy Museum is funded by the dairy checkoff program, thus all of its programs and functions are made possible by dairy farmers.

It was an entertaining as well as educational stop for all of us; children as well as adults. As you can see it was also a dairy museum where you could also buy ice cream!

We took lots of pictures and you can get them on your very own download of this trip!  Here's a few that you might enjoy!

Explore Grand Oaks Winery

Discover Vineyards & Wineries

We visited the winery that had  vineyards amid forests of oak, cedar and pine on hillsides overlooking the Mineola Nature Preserve on the Sabine River.

Fine wines and beautiful vines are found here just 10 minutes from Mineola; only 90 miles from Dallas.

We enjoyed the Wine Tasting Room with its wraparound covered patio and scenic surrounds offer a great place to enjoy our wines in our East Texas setting.  Here's some of the photos of our wonderful visit.  We enjoyed some great wine and a wonderful meal.  More photos on our 30-minute download!

Enjoy Classic Comfort Food

This is definitely a place worth stopping - the food is good "down-home" cooking. Fried or grilled pork chops, chicken and stuffing, and yes a salad if you want to eat healthy.

Their service was wonderful and the prices are also reasonable. Get there early for the lunch daily specials because they usually run out.

The deco on the walls were worth stopping for and the food was great a bonus!  Here's a little peek of the wall hangings but there's much much more included on our 30-minute download of this well-appointed restaurant!
