Nashville, TN - General Jackson #059

Cruise on the General Jackson Showboat...

We had the pleasure of cruising down the Cumberland River to Nashville on a 4-hour dinner cruise with their wonderful live entertainment.

We were on board an enchanting paddlewheel riverboat, taking us on a musical journey of Nashville as we traveled down the beautiful Cumberland River!

The General Jackson is truly a SHOWBOAT! The theatre/dining area was awesome! The staff/crew aboard the riverboat were super.

Our food was delicious and our waiters went above and beyond the call of duty. A superb job! The entertainment was top notch and this trip is certainly a definite must!

Aquarium Restaurant...

A wide variety of fish, sharks, stingrays and more!

Our underwater adventure begian as we were seated around the huge  200,000-gallon aquarium, which allows exceptional floor-to-ceiling viewing from all tables.

There were more than 100 species of colorful, tropical fish from the Caribbean Sea, Hawaii, South Pacific and the Indian Ocean – all  residing in the tank. On our visit a diver was feeding the fish in full view of the dining room.

The menu at Aquarium feature only the freshest fish, seafood, steaks and more.
Our dinner was delicious and everything was quite fresh!

The tank is home to a wide variety of fish, sharks, stingrays and more! The bottom of the sea décor and inventive menu offered us a dining experience like no other.

The Nashville Aquarium is easy to find - located in Opry Mills Mall, across from the Grand Old Opry and Opryland Hotel.  It's a breathtaking experience for adults as well as children...

There's a bunch of photos on the 30-minute download for your own Virtual Vacation Library!!!

Opryland Hotel...

Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center...

I've had the experience of living in Nashville for many years so every time we'd have guests come to visit, we'd naturally take them to enjoy our spectacular  Opryland Hotel!

You can expect an extraordinary experience at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, boasting stylish rooms, modern meeting spaces and a location less than 10 miles from Nashville International Airport.

While we stayed at the huge hotel, we were able to find lots of shopping and dining each of the areas.

We were also able to explore nearby attractions including the Grand Ole Opry, Opry Mills, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the General Jackson Showboat right in their back yard...

Many great photos of this beautiful place that are available for you on our 30-minute download!

Grand Ole Opry...

Called the “Home of American Music”!

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country-music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, which was founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay as a one-hour radio "barn dance" on WSM.

It’s been called the “home of American music” and “country’s most famous stage.”

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people make pilgrimages across town or around the world to attend the Grand Ole Opry and experience the show lives.

I was able to get back-stage passes when I lived there and was able to meet and greet many of the the Opry Stars!

Not long ago we were visiting the Opry and took in a performance of Blake Shelton at his best!  Lots of photos!!!

The Nashville Palace...

Classic country music acts perform here...

Not far from the Opry and Opryland Hotel is a popular nightclub that's famous for launching the careers of many of the Stars!

Classic country music acts perform at this famed, rustic honkey-tonk with dancing & pub grub.

Original owner John Hobbs hoped that Nashville Palace would anchor the Music Valley entertainment district in the shadow of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center.

And while Nashville Palace served as a proving ground for developing talent for future country stars, it was a place that gave Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Lorrie Morgan and Ricky Van Shelton a start in their careers.

We took in all the wall decorations from the past pictures of the many Country Stars that performed there and many other wall hangings from the past...

Just a couple of the photos below - took many pictures that are saved for you on the 30-minute download - just for your own Virtual Vacation Library!

Ernest Tubb Record Shop...

Providing Country, Bluegrass & Gospel music...

Providing Country, Bluegrass & Gospel music products for over 69 years. Specializing in hard-to-find CDs, DVDs, books, songbooks and 8x10 photos.

Founded by the Grand Ole Opry star Ernest Tubb in partnership with his tax accountant Charles Mosley, the store was primarily envisioned as a service for fans. In his travels around the country, Tubb was constantly approached by fans who had trouble finding their favorite records.

Even in Nashville, few retailers carried large stocks of country records, preferring to play it safe with pop and classical selections.

Tubb opened the shop as a mail-order business in early 1947 and also has another store right in downtown Nashville located on Broadway.

We had the opportunity to hop on his bus parked right there in the store!

We had the great opportunity to attend the Sunday service featuring Johnny Cash's sister, Joanne Cash Yates who was married to Dr. Harry Yates the pastor.

There were various great singers performing that day and we were able to meet them after the show.  What a wonderful experience!

All this and shopping too!

Loveless Cafe...

Fried chicken and biscuits...

Their story starts in 1951 when Lon and Annie Loveless opened their front doors to serve fried chicken & biscuits to hungry travelers on Highway 100.

Their homemade Southern dishes became so popular that they converted their home into a restaurant and built a 14-room motel for overnight guests.

For more than 65 years, the Loveless Cafe has been offering families and friends a place where they can enjoy a home-cooked, Southern meal and we enjoyed everything!

If you've ever wanted to visit Nashville, here's a great opportunity for you to see everything mentioned on this page featuring hundreds of photos and videos that we produced on a 30-minute download for your very own for only $12.00.
